Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (TSSEZ) at Gopalpur in Odisha is likely to be delayed further .

The TSSEZ filed with the Board of Approval (BoA) seeking more time to  set up the multi-product SEZ. The SEZ validity was upto December 17, 2016. The BoA , which is going meet at New Delhi on January 6, 2017 under the chairmanship of union commerce secretary Rita Teaotia, is going to take a call on the SEZ projects in the country.

The project, which got the formal approval on June 18,2007, has already been delayed by 10 years. It has been granted seven extension during the decade.

TSSEZ ,which is developing 500 hectares land out of the total 1202 hectares its Gopalpur Industrial Park as multi-product SEZ, has set up a 55,000 tonne per annum ferro-chrome plant as tenant investment in the SEZ area with an investment of Rs 542 crore.  The company is now hosting roadshows worldover scouting investments for the SEZ.
