EMIL’S KOIRA IRON ORE MINES BAGS 5 STAR RATING BY MINES MINISTRY

Bhubaneswar:
 Koira Iron Ore Mines, a unit of EMIL of  Aditya Birla Group Company has been conferred the 5-Star Rating by the union minister of mines. The company CEO for India Mining Operations, Ashok Kumar Bal, and senior vice-president and unit head, Prasanna Kumar Panda, received the award from the union minister for coal & mines, power and revnewal energy at a felicitation ceremony held at New Delhi during the 2nd Conclave of MINES & Minerals on Feburary 15, 2017.

Koira Iron Ore Mines is operating a iron ore mines in Odisha’s Koira circle with raising capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum.

 

This is the highest rating given to the mining companies for complying with a number of standards involving stringent evaluation and auditing process by the union ministry of mines.

Managing impacts at the mine level,  Final/ Progressive mine closure & landscape restoration,   Addressing social impacts of R&R requirements, community engagement & welfare programmes,       Assurance And Reporting are some of the criteria on which the award is conferred.

“This award is conferred in the recognition of our commitment and excellence in various sustainability initiatives and practices, community engagement, welfare programme, systematic and scientific mining practices” , said Bal. “It is testimony to EMIL’s commitment towards sustainable mining and corporate social responsibility.
