Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is hopeful of setting up of the Bichitrapur Port, near Talasari in Balasore district  by JSW Infrastructure Ltd.

The state commerce and transport minister, Dr.Nrusihan Charan Sahoo, Friday said that the port work would start very soon as the clearance from the defense ministry is expected very soon. He said that port project was not moving as there was objections by the defense ministry.

The JSW Infrastructure is proposing to set up an all-weather port with a port-based steel plant and power plant. Meanwhile, group company JSW chairman Sajjan Jindal has announced to set up a integrated steel plant of 10 million tonnes  with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore in the state.

The minister along with his secretary, Sanjay Rastogi, rail co-ordination special secretary, Manoj Mishra, inland water transport director, Subrat Kumar Rout, reviewed the progress of the Bichitrapur port project, on the mouth of River Subernarekha.
