Bhubaneswar: Out of 284 non-MoU projects in the state only 51 have become operational. Thus only 18% of the projects have started productions.

This has become a matter of concern for the Odisha industries minister, Ananta Das.

Das is now proposing to convene a meeting of investors and other stake holders some time after the current budget session of the state assembly is over to give a push to the projects. The minister would review the progress of the non-MoU projects and also those projects for which MoUs have been signed.

Simlarly, out of 92 MoU projects 46 have become operational generating employment opportunity for over 1 lakh people in the state . Thus 50% of the MoU projects are yet to start production.

The slow down of the economy and delay in getting statutory clearances have made the projects suffer time overrun.
