Bhubaneswar: Nalco Sunday flagged off Electric Vehicle (EV) service in Puri. The eco-friendly vehicle will ply between Jaganath Temple and Jagannath Ballav Math in Puri city. The Central-sector aluminium company will maintain the free shuttle service for senior citizen and physically handicapped person for five years.

Nalco CMD Dr.Tapan Kumar Chand flagged off the EV service. Nalco director(HR) BK Thakur, Puri district project director, DRDA, , Udhav Charan Majhi, and Puri Municipality executive officer Srikant Tarai graced the occasion.

As part of its ‘Swachh Iconic Place’ project, Nalco has started battery-operated vehicle service in Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack railway stations.

NALCO is carrying out a number of activities like development and beautification of Gandhi Park, multi-storyed car parking at sea beach, building 300 rooms Atithi Niwas at Malati Patpur, renovation of Niladri Vihar museum inside Jagannath Temple, providing access to drinking water at various spots in the city, development of heritage corridor, among other initiatives, under Central government’s ‘Swachh Iconic Shrine’ project.
