Bhubaneswar: The Odisha chief minister and the BJD supremo, Naveen Patnaik, Sunday tried to make the party’s women wing younger by positioning young women leaders in the Biju Mahila Janata Dal.

Patnaik has appointed Minati Behera as the new chief of the women wing by shifting incumbent president Pramila Mallick, 55 year old BJD MLA,  as the party’s vice president. Srimayee Mishra, Lopamudra Bauxipatra, Gitanjali Bastia and Sulochana Das have been appointed as acting president. Sulata Deo has been appointed as the general secretary while Eleena Das been made secretary of the Biju Mahila Janata Dal.

Minati Behera was chairperson of the State Council for Phyically Disabled Persons while Lopamudra was heading the State Women Commission. Srimayee was the chairperson of ORMASS .
