Bhubaneswar: The Indian team in the World Cup Hockety 2018 Thursday received cheers from a unexpected group of spectators. To their surprise, the host team players,  found as many as 30 former Maoists cadres sitting in a VIP enclosure were shouting and waiving at the them when they enter into the striking zone of the rival Belgium in Kalinga Stadium.

The Odisha police had made special arrangements for the Maoists surrendered before it to witness the quarter final between India and Belgium. 

” They expressed their desire to watch live the World Cup Hockey and so, we made the arrangments”, said the Malkangir district police chief Jagmohan Meena.  According to him, the 30 former Maoists are from Koraput and Malkangiri districts. 

“They would also be taken on a conducted tour to Puri Jaganath temple and Konark temple as part of the holistic development of the surrendered Maoists,” said Meena.
