Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railways (ECoR) is going to introduce Hand-Held Terminals (HHTs), a new tablet device, for TTEs (Travelling Ticket Examiners) to provide reservations to RAC and wait listed passengers in running train. This will help the railways to do away with paper charts    and will enable last minute reservation.

The ECoR has received 33 HHTs — 21 for Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and 12 for Puri base for Shatabdi Train.

A ECoR spokesperson said the new facility will begin from New Year.

“The trials are already successfully conducted and it was launched in Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani Express from today onwards”, the spokesperson said adding that the HHTs will aid TTEs to get updates about the real-time occupancy status of a running train, hence increasing chances of waitlisted, RAC tickets getting confirmed.
