R. Balakrishnan cultural ambassador of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Eminent indologist Dr.R.Balakrishnan will be the cultural ambassador of Odisha.

Balakrishnan, the 1984-batch IAS officer who retired as development commissioner to Odisha government recently has been appointed as Principal Advisor (Special Initiative) in the rank of chief secretary. He will directly report to chief minister Naveen Patnaik.

Balakrishnan will look after the functioning of the Special Development Council, Tribal Museum, Crafts Museum, Heritage Cabinet and Odia University.

Declining to take any remuneration for the job, Balakrishnan said he will work as honorary advisor.
