Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Friday doled out several sops to the voters keeping an eye on the simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha due in May 2019.

The state cabinet which met under the chairmanship of chief minister Naveen Patnaik approved 28 proposals. The proposals are distribution of sanitary napkin free of cost to school girls under ‘Khushi’ Yojana, four mega lift irrigation projects, two piped water projects under Basudha scheme, scholarship to the children of farmers under Kalia scheme and provision of night meals under Aahar scheme. The cabinet also approved the proposal for Rs. 3000 crore bank guarantee for Gridco, the state owned transmission company.

The government is going to supply sanitary napkin to 17.25 lakh school children from class VI to XII for five years under the ‘Khushi’ scheme.
