Bhubaneswar: Tata Sponge managing director Sanjay Patnaik is the new president of Mining Engineers Association of India. Patnaik was elected to the top post of the country’s one of the premier professional body of mining and metallurgical engineers in the Association ‘s 46th AGM, held here recently.

With Patnaik taking over as the president of MEAI expectation among professionals serving the minerals and mining industry in India has soared high as the new incumbent has vast experience in organisational matters being the chairman of CII, Odisha and president of Federation of Indian Mining Industry (FIMI).

The Hyderabad head quarterd MEAI with over 50,000 members spread in 26 regional chapters across the country is engaged in giving inputs on technical and policies matters to Central government and also various state governments. It has working arrangements with Society of Mines , Metallurgy & Exploration Inc.(SME-USA), South African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (SAMM) and Australian Institute of Mines & Metallurgy (Australia).
