Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Medical Corporation(OSMC), a state government concern, will purchase Rs 625 crore worth of medicine and medical equipment besides sanitary napkin for girl students of the state.

The 23rd Board meeting of the Corporation Friday decided to purchase Rs 300 crore of medicine and Rs 250 crore worth of medical equpment. Under Khusi scheme, the Corporation will buy sanitary napkin worth Rs 75 crore for distribution free of cost to the girl students of the state schools.

The Board meeting was chaired by the state health secretary Promod Kumar Meherda and was attended by National Health Mission director Shalini Pandit and Medical Corporation managing director Yamini Sarangi.

On this occasion, the state government has signed an MoU with the Medical Corporation appointing the Corporation as an agent of the government for the year 2019-20 to purchase medicine and medical equipment for the state for 20 years. The MoU was signed by the health secretary on behalf of the government and Yamini Sarangi for the Corporation.
