Bhubaneswar: The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Friday announced a package of Rs 500 crore for Puri city development.

The chief minister, while chairing a high level meeting, here, said that the fund would be used to build Puri into a world heritage city. A bridge named ‘Sri Setu’ would be built to connect Malatipatapur with Jagannath Ballav mutt; infrastructure development of the mutt; a multi-lane road; beatification and illumination of historic Atharnala; development of a man-made lake on 28 acres land and restoration and conservation of all Holy ponds in the town would part of the package.

Patnaik, had approved five welfare projects of Rs 265 crore for Puri city earlier this month.

Law minister Pratap Jena, chief secretary Asit Tripathy, DGP BK Sharma, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Krishan Kumar,  Puri Collector Balwant Singh and SP Umashankar Dash attended the meeting.
