Bhubaneswar: Odisha water resources minister Raghunandan Das Thursday said that the target of digging 22,187 cluster deep bore wells during the current fiscal would be achieved by March 2020. He said 12,082 cluster bore wells have already been dug by now. The bore wells are being dug in rocky areas of 26 districts except Puri, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Bhadrak under Biju Krushak Yojana in the State
The minister was reviewing the activities of the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation(OLIC). The minister was told that the OLIC is irrigating a total of 11 lakh hectares of land by the end of July 2019.
OLIC is promoting four types of irrigation system in the State. Community Lift Irrigation Projects and Cluster Micro River Lift Irrigation Project is being implemented in all the 30 districts, while cluster shallow bore wells are being dug in 13 districts and, Cluster Deep Bore Wells in 26districts of the State.
OLIC chairman Amresh Patri and managing director Archana Patnaik also attended the review meeting.
