Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal(BJD), which going for a massive membership drive from Monday, is expecting to enroll 1 crore members in the party.

“We have set a target to double our membership during the two months campaign which is coming to an end on October 31”, said Debi Prasad Mishra, the chairmen of the BJD’s State-level Committee to monitor membership drive.

“The membership of the party, however, may touch 1 crore by the end of the drive”, said a membership drive Committee member, while stating that the BJD has now 48 lakh members.

The BJD supremo, Naveen Patnaik, while chairing the party’s extended executive committee meeting, here on Sunday, laid down a road map for the membership drive. As per the strategy, each Ward, NAC, Muncipality and Municipal Corporation will have 4, 5, 15 and 40 active members respectively who will enroll members. The members Adhar Card will be seeded to the membership.

Patnaik, while addressing the extended executive committee, expressed his gratitute to the people of Odisha for their support to the party and voting it to power for the fifth consecutive term. Advising his party leaders and workers, he said, “I want people to see integrity in our approach and action. Due to relentless effort of lakhs of workers, our party continues to achieve many feats, so I thank members of the party and their family members for their dedication.”
