New Delhi: Central government has the right to retire government officials those have attained the age of 50.

The union minister of state for personnel, Jitendra Singh, has told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the government has the right to retire government officials prematurely, on the ground of lack of integrity or ineffectiveness, in public interest, by giving notice of not less than three months in writing or three month’s pay and allowances in lieu of such notice:

(i)      If he is, in Group ‘A’ or Group ‘B’ service or post in a substantive, quasi-permanent or temporary capacity and had entered Government service before attaining the age of 35 years, after he has attained the age of 50 years;

(ii)       In any other case after he has attained the age of 55 years. 

The minister said that government has no proposal to reduce age of retirement from 60 years to 58 years.
