Bhubaneswar: The Andhra Pradesh governor, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, has said no to His Excellency and red carpet reception to him.

The governor has directed the chief secretary of Odisha that he should not be addressed as His Excellency and given red carpet reception during his visits to the State.

Stating that these were the old protocol observed during British- India rule, he has said the governor is a citizen of free India and should have interaction with general public. The practice of addressing the governor as His Excellency and giving him or her red carpet reception would distanced the governor from the people.

Harichandan appealed that such practices should be done away with.

The AP governor’s directive to Andhra government has been hailed by the people of that State.
