Bhubaneswar: Announcing a special package for migrant labourers of the State, the Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik has created a corpus fund of Rs 500 crore. He has announced an additional 100days employment with higher wages under MNREGA in 20 blocks of Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir and Kalahandi districts.

Patnaik has also announced concrete houses for all the migrant workers families in the 20 blocks. The female members will be included in Women Self-help Groups (WSHGs) and will be covered under Insurance.

The State government in 2015 had launched a mission to stop labour migration from the State and give them employment in their locality. The Aaction Plan which was started with two districts of Nuapada and Bolangir has now covers 11 districts.

The chief minister’s announcement for the migrant workers of the four districts at a special function held at Jaydev Bhawan, here on Wednesday. Minister panchyati raj Pratap Jena, minister labour Sushant Singh, Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board chairman Subash Singh, principal secretary labour Anu Garg and principal secretary panchyati raj Deo Ranjan Singh were present.
