Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has classified government departments and allowed employees to stay back at home to avoid social contact at the time of COVID-19 pandemic.

While five departments have been classified as critical, 16 have been considered as partially critical and 18 as non-critical.

The departments of health, food supply, home, urban development and special relief commission & OSDMA are classified as critical and has been directed to attend the office in full strength. The concerned secretaries would take decision about the directorates and PSUs functioning under them.

The secretary of the partially critical department along with key officials and staff shall attend office. The concerned secretaries would take decision about the directorates and PSUs functioning under them.

The partially critical departments are finance, industries, I & PR, school & mass education, SSEPD, E & IT, commerce & transport, energy, fisheries & animal resources development, labour & ESI, MSME, Panchyati Raj, revenue, SC & ST development, works and women & child development.

The secretary of the non-critical departments along with personal staff and bare minimum officers/ staff will have to attend the office.

The departments described as non-critical are agriculture, cooperation, excise, forest & environmen, handling & textile, higher education, law, OLL & Culture, Parliamentary Affairs, planning & conergence, public enterprise, rural development, science & technology, steel & mines, tourism, sports & youth affairs, skill development & technical education, and water resources.

It may noted here that the Odisha chief minister has declared total lockdown in five districts and 8 towns and cities including the Bhubaneswar capital city for one week from Sunday.
