Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has asked the power distribution companies (Discoms) to exempt the domestic and small industries from paying the surcharge or interest on delayed payments of electricity dues up to 15th April,2020.

The State energy department vide it’s letter 3956 dated 7th April 2020 has directed the Discoms – Cesu , Nesco, Wesco and Southco – and the Gridco not to levy surcharge or interest on delayed payments of the power bills. The government has referred to the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) decision which has allowed the rebate period to domestic and small industry consumers whose due date falls within it the Lockdown period provided that they pay by April 15 or any other suitable date thereafter as decided by the discoms due to pandemic COVID-19.
