Dhamra (Odisha): Pre-sowing hand holding training on kharif paddy was organized by Adani Foundation in collaboration with agriculture department, Bhadrak at Rabindra Nagar village of Bhadrak district’s Dosinga gram panchyat.

Following to Covid 19 guidelines, 41 farmers were trained through Farmer’s Field School (FFS). The training was inaugurated by representative of PRI member Alok Jana of Dosinga GP in presence of Village Agriculture Worker (VAW) Ratikanta Mishra.

The training was imparted focusing on seed type, paddy variety based on cultivable land pattern, seed selection and germination testing method, seed treatment by biological method, nursery bed preparation and process, land preparation, application of balanced basal dose of fertilizer and recommended spacing (plant to plant & row to row distance) transplanting for implementation of paddy line transplanting and Integrated Crop Management  demonstration supported by state agriculture department.

During this Kharif, as the seed available among the farmers was disturbed due to COVID – 19, Adani Foundation facilitated in making 5 mt ton seeds available with the local progressive farmers in collaboration with Sansar Agropol Private Limited and Youth Star Club of Dosinga.

This initiative will benefit more than 200 farmers of the port vicinity with the new and improved variety of seeds. The foundation is also making the seed available among the women SHG members, pregnant women and lactating mother to promote the Kitchen garden in the family backyard so as to making the iron rich vegetables in the family to cater the nutritional need.
