Rourkela: The Rourkela Steel Plant’s 4.3 metre wide New Plate Mill (NPM) has been consistently making efforts to meet the requirements of the customers and explore new market segments. The highly sophisticated Mill with cutting-edge-technology has carved a niche for itself in the domestic as well as international market as a leading producer of high strength quality plates.

The Mill has recently successfully rolled out plates of 8 MM  thickness for the first time so as to expand its customer base. It is worth mentioning here that to roll out plates with this section; input slabs of 200-210 millimetre thickness with lesser weight are required. However, it was a major constraint for the NPM collective to get slabs in these dimensions. So, the team NPM took up the initiative to roll plates of desired thinner thickness through an innovative effort.

The NPM was also able to roll 3000 millimetre wide plates with 10 millimetre thickness for the first time and fulfill the market demand.

The new range of products will not only help RSP to enrich its product basket but will also give it a competitive edge in the current difficult market scenario.

RSP CEO Dipak Chattaraj has expressed the confidence that NPM will continue to adopt, adapt and innovate and ensure customer delight.
