Odisha reduces Covid tax on liquor to 15% from 50%

Bhubaneswar: Liquor will be cheaper in Odisha from Friday. The State has reduced the Covid tax to 15% from 50%.

Excise department sources told India Whispers that the reduction of tax will be applicable to all type of alcohol – IMFL, FMFL, Wine, Beer and RTD .

The sources said that the State has got Rs 200 crore towards excise duty after lifting of the lock down on sale of liquor.

The State government had levied a special 50% Covid duty on the MRP of liquor after it allowed online sale and subsequently counter sale of liauor as soon as Unlock: 1.0 was declared by the Centre.
