Cuttack: The Odisha high court Tuesday stayed the public hearing for Vedanta’s Jharsuguda aluminium plant. The Odisha State Pollution Control Board has called for a public hearing on 30.09.2020 to accord pollution clearance to the expansion project of the global metal giant Vedanta Resources.

Vedanta is proposing to ramp up the capacity of its aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda in the western district of Odisha.

Sundergarh BJP MLA Kusum Tete and BJP Yuva Morcha president Tankadhar Tripathy have challenged the public hearing during the time of Covid-19 pandemic.

Justice KR Mohapatra passing an interim order has stayed the public hearing.
