Bhubaneswar: Cargo movement on Mahanadi river will start this month. This will be after six decades Mahanadi will witness inland transportation.

The Paradip Port chairman Rinkesh Roy, while speaking on the occasion of Port Day 2020, said on Monday that the cargo transportation on Mahanadi river will commence within few days.

e Port Day 2020 was a low-key affair at PPT, due to COVID-19 pandemic, but the celebrations were as per the age-old traditions. On this occasion, Shri Rinkesh Roy, Chairman, Paradip Port Trust attended the function as Chief Guest in a simple, but traditional affair, with no large gatherings. Addressing the employees, he said the Port has progressed remarkably and occupied the coveted No. 1 position among all Major Ports of India in the Q1 of current fiscal. He appealed to the employees to put their best efforts forward, so that the Port can finish the current fiscal as No. 1 Port of India. He summed up by stating that the PPT is currently the best trade friendly and highly productive Port in the country.

Deputy chairman A.K. Bose, deputy conservator AK Mohapatra, and chief engineer Moloy Dasgupta also spoke on the occasion.
