Barbil (Odisha): Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL)’s Barbil pellet plant celebrated 75th Independence Day with great pomp and pageantry here on Sunday. Plant head and executive vice president Brij Badhadra unfurled the national flag. Maintaining Covid appropriate protocols, the event was observed in the presence of all heads of departments, officials and employees of the unit.

On the auspicious occasion, Badhadra read out the message of JSPL’s chairman Naveen Jindal. In his message, Jindal lauded the performance of India’s contingent at Tokyo Olympics and expressed his gratitude towards all healthcare and frontline workers who helped the country fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

In its effort to make India Atmanirbhar in steel, “JSPL will expand the capacity of its Angul and Raigarh steel plant to 50 MTPA by 2030” said Jindal. “Very soon the company will be debt free,” he added. He encouraged the youth to come forward and work with dedication to fulfil prime minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat roadmap.

Addressing the gathering, Badhadra congratulated the team for their contribution towards the excellent performance by JSPL’s Barbil Unit.  “Pursuing the vision of our chairman Naveen Jindal, we are proud of our efforts of nation building,” he said.

At the end of the event, workers and employees of several departments of the plant were felicitated for their best performance. A ten-member women team of peripheral villages was awarded on the occasion who led and helped JSPL Foundation’s drive to stitch and distribute 50 thousand cotton masks during this Covid pandemic.

JSPL’s Bhubaneswar office also celebrated the 75th Independence Day with hoisting of the national flag by the president and group head (CSR) of JSPL Prashant Kumar Hota, in presence of various employees.
