Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has asked the union education ministry to direct Central Universities to follow UG exam schedule fixed by the UGC.

The State government higher education department’s response came in the wake of union education minister Dhermendra Pradhan’s letter to Odisha chief minister that Odisha students are deprived of getting admission in Central University due to delay in publication of UG results and issuance of provisional certificate and mark-sheet.

Pradhan in a letter to chief minister Naveen Patnaik had alleged that due to non-publication of Under Graduate Final Year/Semester results by Universities and Autonomous Colleges of Odisha, many such students of Odisha desirous of taking admission in Post Graduate courses of Central Universities are getting debarred from taking admission in some Central Universities as the last date for submission of UG marksheet has already elapsed in many CUs.

The State government has pointed out that the UGC guideline has fixed August 31, 2021 for completion UG Exams and PG admissions must be over by September 30, 2021. However, many.of the Central Universities in the country have advanced their last dates for filing the admission forms in violation of the UGC guidelines.

The State government has urged the union minister to direct the Central Universities to stick to the UGC guidelines so that students from Odisha would not be deprived of admission in the. Central Universities.

The State government has assured the union education minister Pradhan that the results UG Exam would be out.within a couple of days and Odisha students would able to.apply for admission in Central Universities for PG courses if the union minister intervene and extend the last for submission of admission forms till September 30 2021 as per the UGC guidelines.

” Therefore, Union Education Ministry should rather advise the CUs to give time to applicant-students upto end-September for submission of UG final marksheet.”

Interestingly Pradhan’s one time rival in student politics Dr. Arun Sahoo is the the higher education minister in Odisha.
