Bhubaneswar: The State-owned Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) Friday signed an agreement with WAPCOS for project management consultancy services of 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project (PSP) at Mukhiguda. The Detailed Project Report of the UIPSP has been prepared through WAPCOS.
The signing ceremony was graced by Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, DC-cum-ACS Ms. Anu Garg, and Principal Secretary, Energy Vishal Kumar Dev.
The OHPC’s 600 MW Pumped Storage Project will come up in the vicinity of its existing Upper Indravati Hydro Electric Project of 600 MW conventional Hydro Power House.
“This collaboration marks a crucial step in advancing Odisha’s energy sector while ensuring efficiency, sustainability,” said Dy CM Singh Deo.
The proposed PSP will have an underground powerhouse located near the lower reservoir, equipped with four vertical-axis reversible-type Francis Hydroelectric units having capacity of 150 MW each (i.e, 4 x 150= 600 MW) and will operate in pumping as well as generating mode in different times of a day in cycle by circulating water between above two reservoirs.
