Bhubaneswar : Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi demanded for more number of bank branches in the State on Thursday at the 27th Meeting of Eastern Zonal Council at Ranchi in Jharkhand. The meeting was presided over by union home minister Amit Shah and represented by the government of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Bihar.

Stating that out of 6794 GPs in the State, only 2421 GPs have Brick & Mortar Branches, the Odisha CM urged the Centre to advise all Banks at their apex level to open Brick and Mortar Branches in unbanked GPs in the State of Odisha.

CM Majhi, in his address, highlighted the welfare initiatives taken in the State by his government. He also discussed about the good practices like Shree Anna Abhiyan for promotion of ancient grains like millet, disastee management, and power sector initiatives.
