Puri : Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho High Performance Centre (HPC) celebrated its first anniversary of operations at the District Sports Complex, Talabania, Puri, marking a significant milestone in its mission to nurture grassroots talent and promote the indigenous sport of Kho Kho.
In its debut year, the HPC has established itself as a model centre of excellence in Kho Kho. With a structured athlete development pathway that integrates professional coaching, sports science, mental and nutritional support, and academic education, the centre has delivered outstanding results at both national and international levels.
The event was graced by Nelson Lakra, Financial Advisor, Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Padma Charan Sahoo, Deputy Secretary, DSYS, Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head CSR, AM/NS India, Vishwas Choksi, Founder, Sports for All (SFA), Chandan Kumar Sahoo, District Sports Officer (DSO), Puri and Sanjeev Sharma, Head Coach, Odisha AM/NS India Kho Kho HPC.
During the year, the HPC athletes have won a total of 14 medals at national and international tournaments, including 3 Gold, 7 Silver, and 4 Bronze. A remarkable 42 out of 50 residential athletes represented various state teams and national teams which is a rare feat for any centre in its first year.The biggest highlight of the year was at the first edition of the Kho Kho World Cup 2025, where Magai Majhi, Subhashree Singh, and Pabani Sabar from the HPC represented in the National team and Team India was crowned World Champions in both Men and Women categories, bringing international glory to Odisha and the Nation. Throughout the year, the HPC athletes represented in various national tournaments such as 57th Senior National Kho Kho Championship 2025, 38th National Games 2025, 7th Khelo India Youth Games 2025, SGFI Under-17 National Championship 2025, Junior National Championship 2024, Sub-Junior National Tournament 2024, Sub-Junior School National Tournament 2024.
