Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to boost employment and industrial development in Odisha, Hindalco Industries Ltd of the Aditya Birla Group, has committed an investment of Rs 200 crore to set up apparel manufacturing units in Kendujhar and Sambalpur districts.

Two separate Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed between Hindalco and the Government of Odisha on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The MoUs were exchanged between Ardhendu Mahapatra, President Corporate Affairs, Hindalco Industries Ltd, and B.S. Poonia, Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development and Technical Education .

The agreements were signed during the Textile Investor meet 2025 (Tex-2025), organized in collaboration with FICCI at the Odisha Secretariat in Bhubaneswar.

As per the MoUs, Hindalco will establish apparel manufacturing units in the two districts with each unit’s investment of 100 crores, creating potential for 2,400 direct employment opportunities for the youth of the state. The units are expected to become operational in the coming days.

The event was also graced by Sampad Charan Swain, Minister for Industries and Skill Development, Pradeep Bal Samant, Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma.
