Bhubaneswar: Odisha plans to cover 15 lakh hectares of land under irrigation in the next five years as part of its Vision 2036/2047. During the current fiscal the plan is bring 2.77 lakh hectares of land under irrigation.

Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Water Resources Anu Garg reviewed in the Department of Water Resources, here on Wednesday in connection with the progress in implementation of Vision 2036/2047. The key areas such a expanding irrigation infrastructure, strengthening water storage and conservation, promoting water use efficiency; leveraging digital and smart water management solutions and enhancing governance and policy frameworks on which the vision hinge were discussed threadbare.

The senior officers and engineers, who attended the meeting, were all advised to pursue approval of the projects/ schemes; focus on completing the big and priority projects and achieve expenditure targets.
