Jharsuguda, Odisha : Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, in collaboration with the Directorate of Factories and Boilers, Government ot Odisha,conducted a large-scale onsite mock d rill within its mega aluminium plant in Jharsuguda. The initiative reaffirmed the company’s commitment to en suring complete workplace safety and a high level of emergency preparedness.

The exercise simulated a fire scenario in the fuel oil storage area of the unit’s captive power plant (CPP) and was designed to test and enhance the plant’s emergency response mechanisms for handling flammable liquids. The drill was observed by Swaroop Jena, Deputy Director of Factories & Boilers, Sambalpur Division and Archana Das,Assistant Director of Factories & Boilers, Jharsuguda Zone.

The mock drill saw active participation from Vedanta’s employees, including security personnel, the combat team, the fire andrescue team, the auxiliary team and safety teams, who jointly worked on containing the simulated fire by rapidly deploying firefighting equipment, securing the affected area, and providing immediate first-aid support.
