Bhubaneswar: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), under the aegis of Industries Department, Government of Odisha, organised massive plantation drives across 12 sites near its operational locations in Paradeep, Dabuna, Thakurani, and Sagasahi as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam 2.0’ campaign. The Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign is a nationwide environmental initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which aims to contribute to India’s green cover and sustainability goals.At the Pellet Plant premises, in Paradeep, Jagatsinghpur, the plantation drive saw enthusiastic participation from over 400 employees and associates.

The event was led by senior leadership from AM/NS India including Shri USR Raju, Plant Head, Paradeep Pellet Plant, Sunila Das, Head- HR & IR, Odisha Asset, Ms. Suparna Nanda, Head – Corporate Affairs, Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head- CSR, Suvendu Kumar Dash, Head Environment, Odisha. In Sankari village near the Tailing Dam, the Dabuna team came together for a focused plantation effort.
The drive was attended by Shailendra Sah, VP, Projects, Shri Jaiwardhan Paroha, Head, Beneficiation Plant, Dabuna, Bhabesh Modi, Head Finance, Hazira, alongside 60 employees and associates, all contributing to the green mission with dedication.
Near the Ghoraburhani Sagasahi mine of AM/NS India in Sundargarh, plantation was carried out in Sagasahi, Kalmang and Kanisahi villages. The event was graced by senior leadership from AM/NS India, including Wim Van Gerven, Director and Vice President, Operations. Alok Mehta, Director – Mining and Strategic Projects, Shri Nageswara Rao, Chief Safety Officer, TS Shanbhogue, Head – Greenfield Projects, Odisha and Technical Support, Suresha G, Odisha Asset, Amit Dubey, Senior General Manager, Mines Operations, Satyakama Das, Mines Manager, Sagasahi mine, Jaikishan Sharma, Head, Logistics, Dabuna.
Over 150 employees and associates participated, and saplings were also distributed to local community members, reinforcing AM/NS India’s commitment to inclusive sustainability.In the villages of Dalki, Kada, and Tankura, the Thakurani team led a spirited plantation drive led by Indrakant Saha, Mines Manager, Thakurani mine, AM/NS India. With 1 50+ employees and associates joining hands, the initiative also extended to the local community through sapling distribution, nurturing shared ownership of the green mission.
