Berhampur: As dark clouds gather over Southern Odisha during rainy days, bringing monsoon’s heavy rains, strong winds, and frequent lightning, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) stands fully ready to counter the challenges of the season. To meet any exigency during this monsoon season, company has introduced several proactive measures to provide reliable power supply across its operational area.
In a region marked by dense forest, remote hilly regions and challenging terrain, TPSODL has completed a robust, proactive preparedness plan to ensure seamless power supply and swift emergency response for its consumers. With resilience at its core, the company has strengthened its infrastructure and mobilized dedicated response teams to tackle the challenges of the monsoon season.
A dedicated frontline team of 5,925 personnel has been strategically deployed across six operational circles, assisted by emergency vehicles and additional manpower. Six mobile distribution substations and two tower wagons are now stationed for rapid response to outages and tree-fall disruptions.
Critical emergency materials including poles, conductors, and LT AB cables are kept in store at strategic level to avoid delays, while 25 ASKA lights and 19 DG sets in each division ensure night-time repair works.TPSODL has already installed 2,529 interposing poles to strengthen its network. A major highlight of this year’s readiness is the drone-based survey of 11kV and 33kV lines, allowing early detection of potential weak spots, especially in hilly and forested area.
Power System Control Centre (PSCC) at Berhampur and Area Power System Control Centres (APSCCs) in Rayagada, Bhanjanagar, and Jeypore are functional round-the-clock, monitoring 178 substations in real time through an advanced SCADA system.
Customer relation has also been upgraded with the IVRS-enabled systems, SMS alerts, and a dedicated missed call service (9777774699) to keep consumers informed of outages and restorations instantly. In addition to this, the 24×7 call centre (Toll-free numbers: 1912 / 1800-2026) ensures prompt response to consumer calls and swift action during emergencies.Additionally, TPSODL’s online publication of quality metrics like SAIFI and SAIDI further underlines its commitment to delivering quality services.
Satellite phones and a dedicated 33kV control desk ensure seamless coordination across all departments, even in the most remote locations. With preparedness rooted in technology and resilient workforce, TPSODL continues to set a benchmark in efficient power distribution during monsoon season.
TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said,“During the monsoon, safety remains our top priority — both for our teams on the ground and, most importantly, for our consumers. Our focus is to ensure that every household, business, and essential service across Southern Odisha experiences minimal disruption despite the season’s challenges. By strengthening our network, using advanced technologies like drone surveys, and enhancing our customer support systems, we aim to deliver a power supply that is not only reliable but also responsive to our consumers’ needs and concerns.”
