Berhampur: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) continues its transformative journey towards rural empowerment by extending its “Model Gram Panchayat (GP)” initiative to 14 more GPs across Southern Odisha. Earlier, the company successfully achieved its vision by developing 11 3 Model GPs, benefiting around 2 lakh people in the region.
This initiative, rooted in TPSODL’s commitment to “Enhance customer experience through reliable power supply and quality services”, focuses on improving the lives of rural consumers by offering a superior experience in areas such as power supply reliability, timely meter reading and billing, new connections, grievance redressal, and overall customer support. It also emphasizes electrical safety, community awareness, and digital empowerment.
As part of its corporate social responsibility program, TPSODL conducted digital literacy camps to promote the use of e-pay platforms, organized livelihood enhancement programs for women Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and “Club Enerji” sessions aimed at energy conservation in Model GPs. Additionally, TPSODL undertook infrastructure works including pole replacement, network augmentation, cable replacement, and the upgradation of Distribution Transformers (DTRs), ensuring a more stable and efficient power supply in these rural areas.
TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said, “We remain committed to driving inclusive growth through the Model GP initiative. This program is not only about better power supply, it’s about building empowered communities. By integrating digital technology, safety, and quality service, we are developing a robust and consumer-centric power distribution system in rural areas.”
With this expansion, the total number of model Gram Panchayats has reached 127. This initiative now spans across 8 districts of Southern Odisha, namely Ganjam, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Boudh, and covers all 19 divisions under TPSODL’s operational jurisdiction.
