Berhampur: With Durga Puja and the festive season approaching, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has appealed to citizens across Southern Odisha to celebrate responsibly while prioritizing electrical safety. The company has assured reliable and quality power supply during the festivities, even as it urges consumers to follow essential safety measures to ensure a bright and accident-free celebration.

TPSODL is extending temporary power connections for pandals, puja committees and cultural programmes. Organisers can apply through the company’s Section, Sub-Division and Division offices, or make use of TPSODL’s self-service numbers for quick support.

Emphasising the need for safe practices, the company has strongly cautioned against the use of unauthorized or illegal connections, which often result in accidents and power disruptions. It has also appealed to committees to engage only licensed electricians for wiring and decoration work, ensuring that installations are carried out in a safe and professional manner. The advisory reminds consumers and organisers to remain vigilant during the festive days. All connections should be thoroughly checked, damaged wires must be replaced without delay, and proper earthing should be ensured to avoid risks. Overloading of sockets and the use of substandard equipment can create severe hazards and must be avoided. Decorative items should not be allowed to come into contact with overhead lines. During immersion of idols, the public has been requested to maintain safe distance from poles, transformers and live wires. Similarly, crackers should not be burst near electrical installations to prevent accidental fires or electrocution.

TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said, “TPSODL’s foremost concern is the safety and well-being of its consumers. He urged all organisers and residents to take authorized supply, engage licensed electricians and adopt simple safety measures so that the festival can be enjoyed without worry. Together, let us ensure that this festive season remains bright, safe and joyful for every household.” he added.
