Bhubaneswar: India’s growing prominence in global gymnastics received a major boost as athletes from the Odisha AMNS India Gymnastics High- Performance Centre (GHPC) delivered a standout performance at the International Continental Cup held in Lisbon, Portugal, last week.
Competing against 18 elite gymnastics clubs worldwide, the GHPC contingent secured 20 medals underscoring India’s rising gymnastics excellence and the strength of a new generation of world-ready athletes.This achievement is a testament to Odisha’s continued leadership in high-performance sports development, driven by the state’s sustained investment in world-class training systems, infrastructure, and athlete development models. It also reflects the success of the Odisha-AM/NS India partnership, a public- private model that has been yielding international results and shaping India’s competitive future in gymnastics.
In the Senior Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG-Sr) category, Jagadish Barik secured a brilliant triple bronze in All-Around, Rings, and Vault, while Mrutyunjay Pattanaik added a bronze in Parallel Bars. Together with Sumit Dhali, the trio created history by winning gold in the Team event. In the Senior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG-Sr) category, Tannu won bronze in Uneven Bars and Priyan shi Bansal earned bronze in Vault. The team of Tannu, Priyan shi, Aditi Todi, Adita Mondal, and Rashmita claimed a strong silver n the Team event.In the Junior Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG-Jr) category, Anshuman Sundara clinched gold on the High Bar. Biru Chandra Rao won two silvers (Vault, All-Around) and three bronzes (Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings), while Debashis Reddy earned two silvers (Pommel Horse, High Bar) and two bronzes (Vault, All-Around). Anshuman, Debashis, and Biru together captured gold in the Team event. Iin the Junior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG-Jr) category, Pritti Jhankar shone with a silver in Vault.
