Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet Wednesday approved a proposal by Shree Ambica Cotspin to establish a state-of-the-art yarn manufacturing (spinning) unit in the Bolangir district.
Strengthening the “Farm-to-Fabric” Ecosystem, Odisha has seen a consistent increase in cotton cultivation; however, the state has historically lacked the necessary infrastructure for downstream processing and value addition. The new unit by Shree Ambica Cotspin, an Odisha-based company with over 27 years of industry experience, is designed to bridge this gap through forward integration.
By transitioning from basic cotton ginning to advanced yarn manufacturing, the project will ensure that the value generated from local cotton remains within the state, strengthening the overall textile and garmenting ecosystem.
The project entails a total investment of Rs 124 crore and is poised to be a cornerstone of industrial growth in Bolangir and the entire KBK region.
Beyond the capital infusion, the unit is expected to generate direct employment for 300 persons.
