New Delhi: Sunil Arora assumed charge as the new Election Commissioner of India, here on Friday.

Born on 13th April, 1956,  Arora, 1980 batch IAS officer from Rajasthan cadre, superannuated on 30th April 2016 as secretary, Information & Broadcasting . During 36 years of his long service, he held various crucial positions in Rajasthan and in the Central government.

Prior to joining as Election Commissioner, Arora was serving as Director General (DG), ministry of corporate affairs.
