New Delhi: The supreme court has expressed its displeasure over the delay in probing the coal scam cases by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.

“The probe cannot go on for so many years”, the court said and added, “You need to expedite the investigation in these cases.”

” Some method has to be devised. You need to apply some out-of-box thinking” said a three-member bench comprising of justices Madan B Lokur, Kurian Joseph and AK Sikri . “We understand that some delay is inevitable. But the probe cannot go on for so many years,” observed the bench.

NGO Common Cause counsel Prashant Bhushan had earlier told the court that CBI has not expedited investigation in several coal cases despite direction from the apex court.

The apex court fix the matter for further consideration in the first week of December.
