Bhubaneswar: The Odisha AM/NS India Gymnastics High Performance Centre (HPC) proudly hosted the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026–27 from April 25 to May 3, 2026, here at Kalinga Stadium.
Athletes from the Centre delivered outstanding performances, winning three gold and two bronze medals across different categories.In the Senior Men Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) category, representing the Odisha team, Tapan Mohanty delivered an outstanding performance by securing gold in the All-Around event with an outstanding score of 73.433, showcasing remarkable consistency and skill across every apparatus. Adding to the success, Tapeshwaranath Das, representing the Railway Services team, earned a bronze medal in the Vault event.In the Senior Women Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) category, representing the Odisha team, Tannu clinched the gold medal on Uneven Bars, while Karishma, representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), secured gold in both the Senior WAG Floor Exercise and the Team Championship. Additionally, Priyanshi Bansal added to the medal tally with a bronze medal in Balance Beam.In the team events, women’s team comprising of HPC athletes – Tannu, Priyanshi Bansal, Adita Mondal, Pritti Jhankaar, and Ritika, and the men’s team comprising of HPC athletes – Tapan Mohanty, Sumit Dhali, Azad Laskar, Mrutyunjay Pattanaik, Mohid Kumar, and Debasish Reddy Das, helped Odisha’s teams deliver strong performances.
The men’s team finished fourth with a score of 208.167, while the women’s team also placed fourth with 119.635. Both teams qualified for the finals, showing Odisha’s growing strength and competitiveness in national gymnastics.
The closing ceremony was graced by Odisha Minister for Sports & Youth Services Suryabanshi Suraj, Member of Parliament Puri Sambit Patra, Olympian and Padma Shri awardee Ms. Dipa Karmakar, Shri Bishweshwar Nandi, Dronacharya Awardee Bishweshwar Nandi, Gymnastics Federation of India President Sudhir Mittal, Odisha Sports & Youth Services Director Yeddula Vijay and AM/NS India CSR Head Dr. Vikash Yadvendu.
