Puri: The state tourism department has paid a rich tribute to the Tamil Epic Thirukkural by great poet Thiruvalluvar with a huge sand art on the sea beach, here on Saturday. Internationally famed sand artists Sudarshan Patnaik has created the art piece with sand and colours.

The accountant general, Odisha, R. Ambhalvanan, unveiled the art piece at Puri beach. The state tourism director Nitin Bhanudas Jawle, Tamil Sangham,Bhubaneswar, president S Duraiswami, and general secretary TBT Ansari graced the occasion.

Written about 2000 years ago, Thirukkural is comprising of 133 chapters and each chapter has 10 poetry on different issues.

The Tamil Sangham has decided to pay rich tribute to the great poet and his literary work with “Thirukkural…Beyond Boundries” at five different places in the country. The sand arts would be created on the beaches of Visakhapatnam, Thiruananthpuram, Channei and Goa.
