Bhubaneswar: Smelling electoral prospects in Odisha, the Congress high command has started the process of revamping the state outfit.

Sunday, the Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appointed three new secretaries for Odisha. Anil Kumar Chaudhary of Delhi, Rudra Raju of Andhara Pradesh and Shaikh Mastan Vali have been asked to assume charges as secretaries of the state with immediate effect.The trio will replace the outgoing Subhankar Sarkar who stepped down from the post.

Earlier, the high command had appointed former union minister of state fro sports, Jitendra Singh, as All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge ofOdisha replacing BK Hariprasad.

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee(OPCC) chief Prasad Harichandan had said on Saturday that the party in the state would have a revamp from booth-level to the top.

The Congress in Odisha has been divided between pro and anti Harichandan. While a group including many sitting MLAs are demanding removal of Harichadan, another group led by Suresh Routray are backing strongly the president incumbent.

Meanwhile many Congress leaders including the former union minister Chandra Sekher Sahu have deserted the party to join the ruling BJD.
