Bhubaneswar: Odissi dancer will have an opportunity to give color to their imagination. Based on classical and modern poetry penned in 20th and 21st centuries, the dancers can create their own choreography for a presentation in Manasa Festival at India International Centre in July, this year.

Manasa – Art Without Frontiers, created by Sharon Lowen with Kamalini Dutt and Naresh Kapuria, has invited Odissi dancers from across the world to join its annual summer advanced Odissi workshops. The workshop will given an opportunity for dancers to get the guidance and individually composed music for developing their own choreography in any language selected from 20th-21st century in poetry.

“This is a new initiative and we are quite hopeful that it will benefit  participating dancers”, said Sharon.

She said, “Interested dancers need to apply and will be selected on basis of concept, background in dance, and scheduling of time and sessions selected. This is not limited to young professionals and kal-ke-kalakars can also benefit from the creative process to deepen their understanding and capacity for abhinaya.”

The workshop would be in two session: June 11 to 20 and June 22 to July 1, 2018. Interested dancers need to select either of the session and apply through FB page Sharon Lowen or Manasa-Art Without Frontiers  by May 7, 2018.

According to her, the best choreography/choreographies will be featured during the 3 day summer dance festival of Manasa-Art Without Frontiers at India International Centre, New Delhi.
