Bhubaneswar: From next month there would be no holiday on second Saturday for Odisha government employees. The state government, while declaring that the fourth Saturday in every month will be a holiday, has done away with the provision of second Saturday as holiday. The employees will now be deprived of their weekend holiday in the second week of every month.

The general understanding among the government employees that they would get an additional holiday on fourth Saturday every month in addition to the existing second Saturday.

The general administration office memorandum dated June 22, 2019 states, “…in suspension of all previous orders issued in this behalf, Government hereby declares fourth Saturday of every month as a general holiday for all State Government Employees.”

This means that the previous order introducing second Saturday as a holiday is done away with the issuance of the present office memorandum.
