Bhubaneswar: Aditya Birla Group’s flagship company Hindalco is dedicating a town hall, a community centre for senior citizens, an all-weather bridge and drinking kiosks for the people living in around Sambalpur as part of its CSR activities.

The benefits of social projects by Hirakud Complex have reached six periphery villages, apart from Hirakud and adjoining localities, which means a better tomorrow for more than 33,000 people.  Of the many projects, the 500-seater town hall for the public, the all-weather bridge connecting nearby villages of Hirakud, the drinking water kiosks at community centres and the senior citizen community hall merit your attention.

The Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development(ABCCIRD), led by visionary Rajashree Birla, the CSR arm of the company is driving the changes for the community on the ground.

Cluster Head of Hindalco RK Gupta said, “Hirakud Town Hall, which was constructed by us and handed over to the district administration in March 2019 caters to the need of the city as there was no big hall at Hirakud for organising public meetings and functions. “

Deputy Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation Subhransu Bhuian said the town hall by Hindalco is “extremely useful” for the city dwellers and has now become the hub of cultural programmes, welfare activities and high-level meetings, the top official says.
