Bhubaneswar: The Naveen Patnaik government Saturday suspended the Rayagada DFO Debacharan Behera for his alleged sexual misconduct.

Behera, a senior Odisha Forest Service (OFS) officer, has been placed under suspension for alleged sexual harassment to women staff at work place.

“Debcharan Behera, OFS, DFO Rayagada Forest Division has been placed under suspension with immediate effect by the State government taking note of sensitivity and seriousness of allegations against him”, the State government has said in a statement.

Stating that there is serious allegation of sexual harassment to women staff in workplace against Behera, the government in the statement has said, “This is serious in nature and violation of Conduct Rules for government servants, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.

Serious allegation of corruption/irregularities relating to construction and maintenance of government building, working on Bamboo SSO coupes and purchase of store article have been found against him.
