Bhubaneswar: “School is the arena for grooming and booming”, said chief secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy. He was addressing the valedictory function of the 49 Annual Day of DAV Public School, Unit-8, here on Tuesday.

Tripathy said, “Each child has immense potential in him/her which booms under proper care and eco-system. The academic eco-system in DAV campus is a symphony of traditional and modern digital system.” He urged upon the students to make use of this best part of their life in school with the teachers and prepare the future road map.

The closing ceremony of the 49th DAV Annual Day was marked with “CLIM-OCHE …the Era of Save and Shape 2019” which brought out the essence of art in the form of dance and music performances by the students. The occasion was graced by chairman DAV School Madan Mohan Panda and regional officer Dr. K. C. Satapathy. Principal Ipsita Das presented the annual report.

Meritorious students were awarded for their exceptional achievements. The teachers and staff members were also felicitated with awards for their innovative contribution. Teachers namely K C Dash, Sangita Mohapatra and Ranjita Pati were felicitated by chief secretary Tripathy for their uninterrupted attendance in the school throughout the year without even a single day leave. Electrician Sudarshan Penthoi was awarded for regularity and sincerity in his duty.

The Annual Day was marked with the events like Fashion Show, Rangoli, Flower arrangement, Salad/Fruit decoration among the mothers of the students. The winning mothers were also awarded on the occasion. Prize giving ceremony was followed by colourful cultural programmes like ‘Sarbamsaha’, conveying women empowerment; ‘Krushna Loeela’ conveying the moral teachings of Indian culture. The students also performed the dance items ‘unfolding the Mystery of History’ and ‘the Pied Piper of Hamlin’, Odia Chorus, Bamboo Dance, ‘united you make my Universe’, dance drama ‘Namo Phobia’, Manipuri dance ‘Faguneroy Utsav’, Odia Play – Hastakhyar, Panchtatva and Orchestra

Sambit Panda and Saswat Mallick who won the DAV National Sports Boys Chess Championship competition held at Bahnoor, Hyderabad were also awarded with prizes and certificates. Tanaim Shareeb and Swagatika Sahoo were awarded Quizzer of the Year and Artist of the Year respectively.

Among others, assitant regional officer Dr Sujata, manager Dr. D N Mishra, former principal Dr. Bhagyabati Nayak addressed the students. The event was coordinated and supervised by the teachers namely Suryakanti Jema and Latika Sarangi.
