New Delhi: Odia Samaj, country’s leading non-profit socio-cultural think tank is launching “Odia Samaj Covid Care”,  an initiative to give relief to traumatized patients who are unable to access doctors.

“Covid Care” will make it easy for patients to consult doctors and seek solutions for their medical issues. It will be absolutely free of cost. A special drive has been made to collaborate with doctors to volunteer and make this initiative a success. Viveo Health, a multinational tele-health platform has agreed to join this philanthropic activity by providing the requisite IT infrastructure to run this project.

“The current pandemic has created so much stress on the health infrastructure of the country, that we felt it was imperative to give whatever support we can to help bolster it” said Sidhartha Pradhan, president, Odia Samaj. He emphasized that “as the whole country is reeling under the pandemic and a huge number of people are affected by Covid, this has severely impacted the country’s health system. Only proper medical advice and the right nutrition can help people to get back to good health. Besides physical health, the mental health of people is also greatly affected and Odia Samaj also plans to organize webinars and wellness workshops to get people to focus and think positively.”

Further Sidhartha Pradhan added that “We are targeting more than 100 doctors to advise people through tele-medicine initiative of Odia Samaj. Many doctors, who have shown interest in joining this initiative to help mankind, are from medical colleges and hospitals in Govt as well private sector besides doctors working for PSUs and some private practitioners.

Explaining the ease of telemedicine platform Dr. Ashok Choudhury, Associate Professor ILBS, New Delhi, said, “In 3 easy steps a patient can fix his appointment with a doctor and consult with him. The doctor listens to his problems gives him medication if needed and a prescription.” He also added that, “We are trying our best to involve more doctors and well being experts so that more and more Indians are able to benefit from this initiative.”

Prasant Mohanty, India Head, Viveo Health, further explained about the ease of the method which a patient needs to follow. First the patient will need to give a missed call from his phone or WhatsApp number. Soon he gets a call from the telehealth customer service agent who will fix his appointment with the concerned doctor. Once when the patient gets a text message confirming his appointment, he just needs to click on the text message and get immediately connected to the doctor on a video call.
